![]() Replace the first asterisk in each line under “Priority 1000” with the name of your overrides folder. This is telling the game to give a higher load priority to a new set of files and subfolders that we will now define.Ĭopy the last 5 lines from the “Priority 500” block and paste them beneath the “Priority 1000” one. It should look like this by default: Step 5: Edit your Resource.cfg to assign priority to your new folderīelow the code that already exists, add a couple of new lines, then a new line that says “Priority 1000”. Make sure you’re opening it in Notepad or TextEdit programs like Microsoft Word or other rich text editors may cause problems with the file. I typically name mine “_Overrides” because then it shows up at the top of my Mods folder when things are sorted alphabetically by folder/file name. You can actually name it whatever you want. Step 3: Create a new folder inside Mods named “Overrides” If the Mods folder doesn’t generate, you can add one inside of the Sims 4 folder through normal means. Long story short: this is usually in “Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4” on Mac and PC, but may be located elsewhere if you did an advanced install. If you’re unsure where this folder is, Crinrict has lots of good information on where to find it and what it contains here. The Mods folder will generate inside of your user files folder. Step 2: Navigate to your Mods folder in File Explorer or Finder This will make sure you have a Mods folder created, and that when you add mods to it, they’ll load in-game. Step 1: Run the game at least once and enable mods A plaintext editor like Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac). If you’re not familiar, don’t worry: we’ll go step by step. Add a new folder in your Mods called Overrides, and then update your resource.cfg to give that folder priority. ![]() If you’re familiar with the Sims 3’s modding scene, the process for doing this is basically exactly the same as it was for that game. Nothing else in Zero’s packages relies on anything in the specific file I edited, so making mine load last and override that part of Zero’s package won’t break anything. ![]() So, like I mentioned in the post for the criminals mod, although that mod technically edits some files that are also edited in Zero’s No Randoms mod, you can easily make the two compatible by making my mod load last. It occurred to me while I was making my Police Station Criminals are Criminals Mod that some folks out there may not know how to create a working Overrides folder.Īnd if you don’t know what that is, it’s basically a folder that you can use to resolve (some) conflicts between mods that edit the same tuning resources. ![]()
